Over the years, I’ve started up and shut down numerous blogs, and without fail, the hardest post to write is always the first. Do we start with a flowery explanation of who we are, where we’re coming from, and what you, the reader can expect in the following posts? Or do we simply start with a pearl of wisdom and the promise that more will follow?
So, let’s start at the beginning – why we started this company. We’re both passionate about creating things, and about creating change. We wanted to do that for clients by giving them great work and getting results.
But back to the blog.
I’m Ryan. I’m going to write about communications and marketing. Rene is going to write about design. We’re both going to try to be funny and interesting. That’s the story, but the reality is that I don’t know what this blog is going to become. What I can tell you what we’re trying to do with it. So, in no particular order, here are our collective goals for the site:
- Highlight things that inspire us, and share them with you
- Contribute to the design and marketing community online that already gives so much for free
- Use it as a channel to make us think a little harder about what we do every day
- Make you buy stuff from us (points for honesty?)
As is almost always the case, I’m certain that the direction of this blog is going to change a dozen times in the first month, and some posts will be decidedly better than others. However, we can promise you that if you subscribe (by email or RSS), you will never read a post that is overly self-promotional or that provides no unique insight, and while we may write about launches or projects we’re working on, no post will ever just be a shameless plug for one of our clients. We don’t like those either.
So, thank you for reading, and I hope that you’ll continue reading, and that the words we write will continue being worth your time.
